Before we go on to tell you how we prepare our mouth watering Peri-Peri chicken or how we have bottled Peri-Peri to create our famous sauces, it is time we went deeper into the magical qualities of Nando's Peri-Peri, the life blood of Nando's |
The adventurous settlers, that had made Southern Africa their home took full advantage of the rich, fertile soils and the glorious climate to cultivate and
nurture
the newly discovered little treasure called Peri-Peri, which was the
African name
for the Bird's Eye Chilli. The African people had introduce
the settlers to Peri-Peri
and
it became part of their everyday culinary life.
The
Settlers experi-perimented
with
Peri-Peri in a variety of exotic dishes
and of
course with chicken, and by
blending it with other natural ingredients
like herbs, spices, lemons and vinegar
they created
their own secret blends of
Peri-Peri.
The recipe for Nando's
Peri-Peri is one of
these closely-guarded family secrets
that have been handed
down from the
people of that adventurous time. When
Robert Brozin and his
friend Fernando
Duarte first ntroduced Peri-Peri Chicken to the rest of world they
