Sharing love & Smiles:
East Malaysians and Nando’s team up to donate 1,000 chicken meals
Nando’s turned up the heat this holiday season, proving once again that it’s more than just flame-grilled chicken-it’s chicken with a heart. Through its first-ever “Gift a Meal, Gift a Smile” campaign, Nando’s with the help of generous customers, served up 1,000 PERi-PERi meals to charity homes across Sabah and Sarawak.
From 1st to 15th December, customers could buy a “1/4 for Smiles” voucher to donate ¼ chicken and a side to someone in need. For every meal donated, Nando’s doubled the love with a matching meal. The result? Double the chicken, double the joy and spreading twice the love. 500 customers and influencers selflessly donated chicken meals across our outlets in Kuching, Kota Kinabalu and Miri.
But this wasn’t just about food. Customers added their personal touch with handwritten notes hung on in-restaurant Christmas trees. These messages, delivered alongside meals included everything from cheeky puns to heartfelt wishes – like this touching message from a customer:
“Enjoy this delicious meal. May they bring you comfort and joy. Remember, you are valued and cared for.”
The meals reached more than 10 charity homes, including Lions Nursing Home a sanctuary for the elderly, Cheshire Home a home caring for the differently-abled and Kompleks Kebajikan Hamidah Yakup, which cares for over 50 children aged 2 to 17. For many of the recipients, the flame-grilled meals were a rare treat that added an extra spark to their holiday celebrations.
“At Nando’s, our purpose is to change lives together, and this campaign gave us the chance to do just that,” said Chai Hui Fung, Chief Commercial Officer of Nando’s Malaysia. “Whether it was kids enjoying PERi-PERi for the first time or the elderly sharing stories over their meals, the joy we saw reminded us of the power of coming together as a community.”
Nandocas (Nando’s staff) went all in – grilling, packing, and delivering meals straight to the charity homes. Joining them were local influencers TP from Tea FM, Jacob贾轲博 and Boeing 李波音 in Kuching while Ketty Lee, Vance Tan and Deirdre Chiew spread the love in KK. They got to see the impact up close, proving that this campaign wasn’t just about food – it was about creating moments of joy.
The season of giving may be over, but Nando’s isn’t done. While plans for the next initiative are under wraps, the brand’s commitment to spreading PERi-PERi love and supporting its community burns strong.
